EcoVadis
A Complete EcoVadis Preparation Checklist for UAE Suppliers (2026)

May 17, 2026
Being asked to complete an EcoVadis assessment can feel daunting, especially if your business has never formally documented its sustainability practices before. The good news is that EcoVadis rewards preparation. Companies that approach the questionnaire with the right evidence already gathered consistently score higher than those who attempt it without structure.
This checklist covers what you need to have in place across all four EcoVadis themes before you begin your submission.
Before You Start
Know your industry category
EcoVadis weights themes differently depending on your sector. An industrial manufacturer will be assessed differently from a logistics or services business. Check your category before you begin so you know which themes carry the most weight for you.
Gather last year’s data
EcoVadis asks about performance over the past 12 months. Before opening the questionnaire, pull together utility bills, fuel records, incident logs, and training records for the prior year.
Read your previous scorecard
If you have been assessed before, your scorecard identifies exactly where you lost points. Address those gaps first.
Environment
- A written environmental policy signed by senior management and dated within the last two years
- Evidence that the policy has been communicated to staff through training records, emails, or meeting notes
- At least 12 months of energy consumption data including electricity, fuel, and water where relevant
- A documented waste management procedure with records of waste volumes or disposal methods
- At least one environmental objective or target with progress tracked
- ISO 14001 certification if held or documented evidence of equivalent environmental management practices
Labour & Human Rights
- A health and safety policy signed by senior management
- Records of HSE training conducted in the past 12 months
- An incident and near-miss tracking log (even if incidents are zero, the system must exist)
- A grievance or whistleblowing mechanism that employees can access
- Employment contracts and records demonstrating compliance with UAE Labour Law
- ISO 45001 or OHSAS 18001 certification if held
Ethics
- A written anti-corruption policy or code of conduct + evidence it has been communicated such as signed acknowledgements, training completion records, or induction documentation
- A whistleblowing channel which can be as simple as a named email address for reporting concerns
- A data protection or privacy policy aligned to applicable UAE regulations
- Any third-party due diligence process for agents or partners operating on your behalf
Sustainable Procurement
- A supplier code of conduct or written sustainability expectations for your own supply chain
- Evidence that these expectations have been communicated to at least your key or high-risk suppliers
- Any supplier assessment, audit, or screening process related to sustainability criteria
- Procurement policy language referencing environmental or social considerations
A note on supporting documents:
EcoVadis analysts cross-reference your questionnaire answers with the documents you upload. A strong answer without supporting evidence scores poorly. A moderate answer with clear, relevant documentation scores well. Before you submit, make sure every significant claim you make is backed by an uploaded document.
Accepted document types include policies, procedures, certificates, training records, utility bills, audit reports, and management review minutes.
